Every Nissan Primastar from 2001 to 2014: which radio was fitted, where its serial number hides, and what we can do with it.
Your code comes from the serial number of the radio, not from the car — so the first job is getting that number off the unit. The table below is your Primastar: the units fitted, and where the serial hides on each.
Already have the serial? Type it in and we will tell you straight away whether we can answer it.
| Generation | Radios fitted | Serial | Where to read it | What we do |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| X83 2001–2014 |
Tuner List, Update List, Renault CD | letter + 3 digits | printed on the label on the rear casing — these vans carry a Renault head unit and its precode (for example R185) | Free — a share unlocks it |
Radio names are what is written on the fascia, not the name of the company that built the unit — a “6000 CD” or an “RCD 300” is what you see in the car. Unit fitment varies by market and trim, so treat the list as the usual case and let the serial decide: it is the serial that determines the code, not the model.
From 2001 to 2014 the Primastar came with the radios below; the serial on the unit is what decides the code.
On Primastar cars from 2001–2014 the radio fitted was usually one of: Tuner List, Update List, Renault CD. The serial reads letter + 3 digits; printed on the label on the rear casing — these vans carry a Renault head unit and its precode (for example R185). We can work it out, and while the rule behind it is still being confirmed the code is free — all we ask is that you tell us whether it fitted.
Careful: most units lock for good after about ten wrong attempts. If a code does not take, stop and email us before trying again.

Yes — while the rule behind it is still being confirmed the code is free, and we ask you to tell us whether it fitted.
Switch the radio on — the display shows CODE. If it shows SECURITY instead, the radio is waiting for the car’s key, not for a code: tell us before entering anything. Bosch/Blaupunkt units (label BP…): press preset 1 until the first digit is right, then presets 2, 3 and 4 the same way. Confirm with TA — the K12 Micra and E11 Note have no preset 6. Where the unit does have a 6 (CD-changer models), a long press on 6 confirms instead. Don’t try other keys at random. After three wrong codes the radio locks for an hour with a countdown: leave it switched on — switching off restarts the hour, and repeated lockouts make it permanent. Nissan Connect touchscreens: type the code on the screen and confirm.
Every card here is a code an owner told us worked, tied to an order we can check. Codes that did not work are not shown here, and a fee paid to skip the wait comes back automatically.
Read them allGot the code, for free, in 24 hours, worked perfect, much better than other results of google, thanks very much.
