How to Find your Opel Radio Code

The quick way — the VIN. No tools, nothing to remove: the VIN is on the plate at the base of the windscreen, on the driver-side door pillar, and on your V5C or registration document.

Our VIN table is strongest on European Opel built roughly 1994–2009 — 66,000 German-built cars (VIN starting W0L) — plus GM South America. If your VIN is not in it, nothing is charged.

The certain way — the unit serial. Pull the radio out with a pair of release keys and read the label on the casing: GM1500… on a CDR 500, GM0205… on a CDR 2005, 14 characters in total.

A VIN names the car, and we answer it from the same database — but it is only right while the radio is the one the car left the factory with: a unit swapped at some point in the car's life would give the wrong code. How to Enter your Opel Radio Code

  1. Switch the radio on — the display shows CODE (or SAFE on some units).
  2. Preset buttons 1–4 each set one digit: press button 1 until the first digit is right, then buttons 2, 3 and 4. Past 9 it rolls back to 0.
  3. Press and hold button 6 — or the OK / enter knob on later units — until the radio accepts the code.
  4. Your code email spells out the steps for your exact unit.
