How to Find your Jaguar Radio Code

For your Jaguar radio code we need the full serial of the unit. Alpine units from 2001 on carry a 14-character label starting JAC, such as JACN2071152445. On 1990s units (XJ X300, X308, XK8) the label has no serial: it is stamped into the metal of the case, starting JA, such as JA0425S0728192. The Jaguar code card prints an 8-digit radio serial. Type the whole number, not just the digits at the end. Ford-built units fitted to some models use M or V and six digits.

Two lines stamped on the case? Type the top one, starting JA. The shorter line under it repeats the end of the same number.

Getting at the label takes two tools: something to pry with and a Phillips screwdriver. The trim around the radio is held by clips — lever it off, then take out the four screws that hold the unit.

How to Enter your Jaguar Radio Code

  1. Early S-Type (1999–2002) Visteon button units: press preset 1 until the first digit is right, then 2, 3 and 4, without long pauses. Confirm with preset 5 — a beep means it is accepted.
  2. Units with a numbered keypad (X-Type, S-Type from 2002, XJ from 2003; Alpine-built, JAC… label): press the key with the number of each digit once. There is no confirm key — a beep after the last digit means the code was accepted.
  3. After three wrong codes the display shows PLEASE WAIT: leave the radio on for at least 30 minutes; it then accepts three more tries. Switching off restarts the wait.
