Free Jaguar XJ X300 Radio Code

Every Jaguar XJ X300 from 1994 to 1997: which radio was fitted, where its serial number hides, and what we can do with it.

Your code comes from the serial number of the radio, not from the car — so the first job is getting that number off the unit. The table below is your XJ X300: the units fitted, and where the serial hides on each.

Already have the serial? Type it in and we will tell you straight away whether we can answer it.

That does not look like a Jaguar serial — check the table below for where to find it.
We never ask for the code you are missing — only the serial.

Radio names are what is written on the fascia, not the name of the company that built the unit — a “6000 CD” or an “RCD 300” is what you see in the car. Unit fitment varies by market and trim, so treat the list as the usual case and let the serial decide: it is the serial that determines the code, not the model.

How to enter the code in your XJ X300

  1. Early S-Type (1999–2002) Visteon button units: press preset 1 until the first digit is right, then 2, 3 and 4, without long pauses. Confirm with preset 5 — a beep means it is accepted.
  2. Units with a numbered keypad (X-Type, S-Type from 2002, XJ from 2003; Alpine-built, JAC… label): press the key with the number of each digit once. There is no confirm key — a beep after the last digit means the code was accepted.
  3. After three wrong codes the display shows PLEASE WAIT: leave the radio on for at least 30 minutes; it then accepts three more tries. Switching off restarts the wait.
Jaguar six-preset Alpine cassette unit (XJ X300 1994 to 1997, XK8 1997 model year): press presets 1 to 6 for the four digits; there is no confirm key, a beep means the code was accepted
XJ X300 and first-year XK8: the code is typed on the six preset buttons. No confirm key, a beep means accepted; after three wrong entries the radio shows WAIT and must be left switched on for one hour.

Careful: most units lock for good after about ten wrong attempts. If a code does not take, stop and email us before trying again.
